    Massanutten Mountains March Hang

I am planning a weekend hang sometime during March in the Massanutten Mountains west of Front Royal, VA. The plan is to arrive on Friday night near the Signal Knob parking/Elizabeth Furnace Area and base camp there with day hikes on Saturday and Sunday.

    Map of campground here: http://www.fs.fed.us/outernet/r8/gwj...mpsite_map.pdf

Saturday day hike: Hike north on Massanutten trail and then west on Tuscarora Trail back to the campground. Approx 9 miles.

Sunday day hike: Hike south on Sherman Gap Trail and north on Tuscarora Trail back to campground. Approx 8.5 miles.

I don't have the dates solidified yet but am hoping it is the last weekend in March (30-31 and the 1st of April).

    Interested??

I'm in. I'll put this on my work calendar today. I haven't been over to Massanutten in a while. Sounds perfect!

here are some updated hiking routes:

I have never been to the Massanutten area but these hikes look good. If anyone else has any suggests, I am all ears.

Wish I were closer! I grew up in the "Fort" and all this area is home to me. I don't get homesick much but................I do spend every November there still.

Granddaughter moved up to Fort Valley from central Florida last year. You didn't happen to have Thanksgiving Dinner with a bunch of other folks from Florida by chance?
