    Braided Mason Line

I LOVe THIS STUFF!!! got a 250' roll from Home Depot for about $5 and you can practice splicing it just like Amsteel. Let the Splicing begin!!! I have played with Amsteel making my own whoopies and soft shackles but I still like to practice on something cheaper because the budget is tight.

I am using one of the coated strands from inside an ethernet cable and its like butter on the mason line. I am definitely planning on making some more soft shackle prusiks to hang do-dads on my hammock RL out of this stuff.

I am also planning on using the mason line in conjunction with some shock cord as my guy lines... now just to finish my tarp

That sounds sweet, I was just looking at that stuff and didn't even think to use it as a practice. Cool idea about the ethernet cable wire too!

Have even made whoopee sling tarp tie outs from the stuff. Not all that practical but it was fun!

Yep, the sign of a true knot-head and rope geek... yeah, I did that too...

I find braided mason's line more useful than paracord.

Yep gotta love the braided mason line.

Actually I like using for tarp guidelines using it in UCR mode. Since the line is so inexpensive, the lines are about 12 feet long to reach those ties off a little further away. If the stake point is closer, can use a clove hitch or marlin spike hitch as the knot.

One thing I found, at least on the two rolls I have; the red is just a bit tighter than the yellow. Don't know if this always the case, but I'll find out shortly since I'm almost through the first two rolls of mason line.

The only place I've seen the braided mason line is Home Depot.

Yes, I have had my own fun with braided mason line. It took 6 months of checking back and fourth at Home Depot before they finally got some in.

I was going to bury one length inside another thinking that would make it strong enough for my tarp ridge line. I cut two lengths of 50', looked around for something to use as a fid, then thought to myself "for heaven's sake, what am I doing?"
