So next year I will be moving with work to nothern Manitoba. So I immediately started thinking about my winter hammocking system for next year. If i used a Ultima thule from Wiggys with the over bag around the hammock would i be able to safely hang in temps around -40 celcius?
A buddy of mine has the Ultimate Thule with the overbag. From what I recall of his, it doesn't have a separate zipper at the bottom of the bag, so if you want to use it as a peapod type configuration, this would require modification to the bag. If you're going to be lugging out that Wiggy's bag anyways, I would use a couple of CCF as under insulaiton and zip the two bags together and hop in the hammock as is. It should be rather toasty at that temperature.
But as with all things, it is wise and safest to backyard test or in a spot with any easy bailout option. At those temperatures, failure is not an option.
