I've been looking at the new revisions to HG's underquilts. I am trying to figure out the "leg shelf."
It looks like there might be an extended dart in the foot end of each chamber's outer shell that runs up to beginning of the "shelf," that shrinks the volume of each chamber up to the notch of the shelf. So that would give a little less insulation in that portion of the quilt.
Looking at the pictures, there also seems to be a bit of a bend in that area as well, notching the quilt upward.
How does he do this? What kind of quilt-god, voodoo magic does he invoke?
Are there small transverse darts in the outer shell that run across each chamber at that point, giving a the quilt a bend or curve in that area?
That is the only thing I can think of.
Any thoughts?
