Lightbulb Hmmm a soft shackle whoopie?

Anyone done it? I believe I'll make one today.

I've got a bunch of them laying around. They're fun to make and use.

I mean like the adjustable end of the whoopie, just a random thought I had.

A similar project that may get the creative juices flowing.

I could see a soft shackle for the fixed eye on whoopie sling, but can't quite imagine it for the adjustable eye.

Thanks I guess I'm over thinking it a bit.

I would be interested to hear Southernfan chime in on how he got his to function.

Doesn't mean you're over thinking it, just that other's can't think of how it would work.

Keep the mind working, you may be onto something.

Like this so you could just wrap it right around a tree for your tarp ridgeline or tie-outs and it would be adjustable.

I think you'll find that whoopies don't work too well on tarp ridgelines - very difficult to get the tension you need. I know - I tried. I could never get enough tension on the ridgeline to get my tarp taut.

You'll notice that most hammock use of whoopies are not used for high tension applications like a tarp ridgeline - neither hammock suspension or adjustable structural ridgelines are under a great deal of tension.

I'm not trying to discourage you from experimenting, however. Other people advised me against trying to use whoopies on tarp ridgelines and I didn't listen to them. Guess I had to learn it for myself (as I'm sure they did too).

When i first read this post, I thought you were talking about the fixed eye too and it sounded intriguing. However, the more I thought about it, I like the KISS methodology (keep it simple stupid) and you can't get much simpler than a fixed eye that can be larksheaded onto anything (or to which you can larkshead anything, including a continuous loop).
