    Drank the Kool-Aid

Well, I was in the local thrift store and I stumbled across a Singer Touch Tronic 2010 thread injector. I grabbed it up, not knowing what I was going to do with it, but I just had to have it. I checked it out and cleaned it up last night, and it worked great! Looks to be hardly used. Now I'll have to make myself a double layer hammock that I saw plans for on DIY Gear Supply. Oh, by the way, sale price of the machine...$4.00 including tax! Anyone else have one of these? Are you happy with it for making hammock kit?

Great deal! Now you can sign up for the frequent coupons/sale notices from Hancock and Joann's.

Excellent buy! Great machine. Manual available from Singer for free here - it's 88megs in size. http://www.singerco.com/accessories/...manuals/search down at the bottom of the page.

Thanks Lost_Biker! Believe it or not, the manual came with it too. Just wish all the accessories I see in the book that were supposed to be with it were there. Just can't get anything for 4 bucks anymore. I saw where someone posted that this was a very strong machine, and that it would probably sew a 2x4 if you could get it under the presser foot!

Emjackdad, you welcome. I really love the older machines. I picked up a 1939 Singer 201 in great shape from Goodwill for a song. Ima gear making machine now!

Be aware that it is an electronic machine so for self maintenance follow the manual carefully. Those circuits boards can be damaged and then you have a dandy paper weight. You should be able to find accessories for this machine if you look around. You'll just to check the compatibility charts carefully. There is no "universal" fit for sewing machines even on models made by the same manufacturer.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Thanks for the advice Ramblinrev. I have a friend who owns a Sew & Vac center, so feel good having him in my corner.

I finally got a chance to play with the machine some this weekend. It does not change stitches or reverse. Don't know if the board is already bad or if there might be a connection that maybe has corroded due to lack of use. It will do a half-hearted straight stitch only right now. It actually did a better straight stitch the first night I fired it up for a few minutes. Not giving up on it yet. Wish me luck.
