Hanging System

I believe one should do their homework, and I have but I'm still confused. Just received my Claytor Jungle hammock and I'm looking for the easiest way to hang it. I've studied Mules method but became confused one point

Point B: B. After the biner I have a cinch buckle

Ok I see that, it is a small strap with a buckle that’s loop attaches to the biner
...and 12 feet of webbing on each side with a biner on the ends of the webbing.
Question – on the 12 feet of webbing what is the biner on the ends for?

Then I've read about the Triglides, well that's left me bewildered also.

I'm not concerned about the weight of a system, or anything else. I just want to get the easiest system for the Claytor. I'm not very savy when it comes to mechanical things, and don't want to spend the rest of the summer tryig to figure it all out. Just tell me what the heck to get. I'm ready to buy.

I’m in the mist of sewing a new system for my Claytor right now. One end of the long strap has a loop and a biner. Attach the biner to the loop and swing it around the tree. Clip the biner back onto the strap, and that’s how the strap is attached to the tree.

The other end of the long strap has nothing. A short strap is attached to the hammock, and on the end of that strap is sewn the cinch buckle. The end of the long strap from the tree threads through the cinch buckle, and is easily adjusted, and will not slip at all, allowing you to center the hammock between the trees, and adjust the height (sag) of the hammock.

Many other people are more knowledgeable than I, and I’m sure they will add info shortly.

Now I see. What sthrew me was the fact that I've read about folks being concerned about damaging the tree. I just assumed that the biner would rub the tree if wrapped around it and clipped as you say. I guess that's not the case. Thanks. mukguk

I used the same method as 6 and others while using the stock Claytor straps. I use the stock straps with a biner through the loop. After I wrap a tree with the strap, I connect the biner back to the strap. I then run the other end of the strap through a set of rings. As stated by you and many others, this method provides for quick adjustment of height and tension.

From the hammock side, I used 8 or 9 mm cord that I ran through the hammock support strap channel and tied to the rings. There is about 10" of space between the hammock and the rings. The only drawback that I have found with this method is I didn't save any weight by reusing the Claytor stock straps. Also, the webbing doesn't allow a way to integrate tarp straps or hooks into the same system as done by Hennessy and maybe others.
