Really nice idea, and well done also
Thanks for sharing
They are sort of ugly, but if you can hide the REI logo, they will not be so bad. I like the white ones in the background, though.

just finished up a pair of down booties covers for myselt and thought i'd share
i had some heavy rubber backed cordura that i made a snowshoe bag out of and used that for the sole and the "first" upper, then used some 1.9oz ripstop for the "second" upper, ran some cordage through a channel at the top and presto.......
i didn't sew in a layer of padding, i know from past experience that refectix and foam will break down pretty quick if you have all of your weight on it, thought if i need some padding in the bottom i will just cut something to fit and slip it in and then when it breaks down i can easily replace it
with the top open and my arrowhead bootie inside
with the top cinched close
side view.....look at that beautiful stitching form above function i say
Boothill, you did a fantastic job on your bootie covers . I agree with not needing to sew in a pad into the sole of the cover, putting a insert of closed cell foam will do a better job and you can change it out. Do you think you will need to seam seal them?
The Tyvek tape, rather than sewing, held up fine - no field repairs needed.
