    Toxaway tarp vs WBBMJ

I want a big, light tarp at a reasonable price - which rules out cuben. The Toxaway tarp and the Bigmambajamba look like the final contestants, although the MacCat Ultra (if I can get one) is in the mix.

The Toxaway appears to have a bit of a different cut than the other two, specifically along the ridgeline which looks less straight and more like the ridgeline has a cat cut. Wondering if that is correct, and then what the advantage or disadvantage would be? Plus anything else that might be a significant difference.

p.s. I have a 10' hammock and might prefer the 12' ridgeline of the Toxaway or Maccat, but I'm taking into acct the success of the BMJ with other 10' hammock setups (and the pullouts).

For a bit more mud on the subject the Hard Rock Winter Tarp.

I have the Toxaway and like it very much no clue about a comparo or the cat cut ridgeline. Seems straight to me though.

I was considering a BMBH before, and this setup looks perfect for that with the poles that would help spread the tarp around the hammock's spreader bars.

I'm going off pics of the Toxaway. Something just seems different about the cut (besides the 2D dimensions). Might be just me. I assume AHE would add some pull outs if I emailed them about that?

Pic shows a curved ridgeline as opposed to straight across as I'm used to seeing (and as my current tarp is). Wondering if anyone can weigh in on advantages/disadvantages of that design?

I have a straight across ridgeline. It's all I've ever used. Just makes sense and is really easy to set up.

That pic does look more straight in the middle, but angles upward at the ends of the ridgeline. Maybe its just a method of hanging instead of being curved? On my avatar, you'll see mine goes straight across, no upward angle at the ends.

I guess my concern would be that you have to tie up the tarp higher on the tree to get a similar level above the hammock on the other tarps I've seen.

I have the toxaway and I've been really happy with it. Depending on how you do your ridge line (over or under) will be one of the biggest factors in how high up you have to tie to the tree. I don't normally have to reach any higher to hang my tarp than I have to reach for my hammock suspension (I normally tie off below my tree straps) and I run my ridge line over the tarp. I have not had any experience with other tarps but the toxaway is really nice.

    dakota:
Does your tarp have a continous ridgeline suspension? If so, does it run above or below the ridgeline of the tarp?
