    shock cord on Lash it?

I just ordered a roll of 1.75 Lash it for my tarp ridge line and guy lines. I'm planning on using a continuous ridge line with prussiks for ease of centering.

My question is, would there be any advantage to using shock cord as the prussiks to help with wind or slack due to stretching? In Oklahoma, it's not uncommon to have 25 mph winds and up. and I don't want my tarp to get pulled by it.

Also, if I use shock coord prussiks, how many wraps do you think would be best on to Lash it?

i'm not sure how much stretch a sc prusik would give, it's worth a test, but wrap it at least four-five times i reckon.

Since you are trying to get your tarp taut, I don't think the shock cord will work out too well on the prusiks. But give it a try - people use shock cord tensioners on their tie-outs.

I've planned on doing the tensioners on the tie outs. I was just curious if people have issues with the ridge line becoming to slack. My Mamajamba has the sewn on ridge line and looks to be very strong, but I don't want to find the threshold when the winds come a gusting along with cold temps.

I've used a 6" piece of 1/8" shock cord on my ridge line tie-out (one end only).
I set it up with the shock cord stretched about 3/4 of the maximum stretch.
That gave a very tight ridgeline, but could still take some shock.

So you only used it on one side? Hadn't thought about that. Gives the shock absorption, but not too muck for the whole thing to move. I may try that way. Shock cord prussik on one side, lash it prussik on the other.

I have been thinking of changing to a silicone tubing over lash it style guyline tensioner on my ridge line. My thought was it would work just like the guyline but with less line for adjustment. I was wondering if there would be any advantage to having a self tensioner as well.
