Started first DIY tarp this morning

I started my first DIY hex tarp this morning. After many hand drawn sketches and a blueprint done on Google Sketch Up I am finally comfortable with the design. I will have pictures up ASAP although I am not sure when I will finish. I'm hoping that posting something on here now will expedite the process

    Dimensions:
    ridge line- 11'
    sides- 7'6"
    width- 9'6"

-I am doing cat cuts on the hex sides and planning on a straight RL although I am still toying with the idea of a shallow cat cut on the RL.
    -Made of 1.1 sil

Homemade weather protection here I come!

    Sounds nice.
Any plans for doors on one end?
I find in Colorado weather when one needs a tarp. 1 set of doors really comes in handy.

Thanks for the help Knotty Long story but I only have half of the fabric right now so as of tonight I have one side cut out, cat cut and hemmed. The other side will be done within probably 2 hours of getting here, then just to reinforce the tiw-outs, sew the RL and seam seal. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly and how smooth the first half went.

No plans for doors yet. I have more than played around with the idea of one set of beaks. That will probably be the way I go on this one because of the cat cuts. This is the tarp to test the more involved DIY stuff so if this goes well then there is a strong possibility for a deep cat cut, more minimal summer tarp and/or a full on winter tarp with doors.

Laying out the cat cuts. Have to get a little creative with laying out cat cuts by yourself in a 600 sq ft apartment. Thumb tacks in the wall it is The holes are out at the corners so that are going to be covered and seam sealed anyway.

Had some issues with thread tension on some of the seams. I had adjusted it before and didn't have any issues so don't know if it is because of the different fabric or what. Ill keep playing with it.

I started mine this weekend too. it is based on the winter dream but no cat cuts. Let me say doing a feld flat seam with 13 feet of fabric is not easy. So far that is all I have finished.
