    Bikepacking

I've been searching through the forums looking for hangers who tour off/on road on bicycles and it looks like their are quite a few of us. It's a pain tracking down info on people's kits and trips using the search button. Would it be possible to add a sub-forum for bicycles hangers? Is there any interest? Is it possible if there is enough interest? What da ya say!

    Hi Scooterdogma,

I'm an avid road cyclist but I've yet to crossover into real unsupported touring. When I do, hammocking will certainly be a focus. I'm unclear about the "packing" part of your subject line, does this imply hiking as well as cycling?

If you're into crosscountry touring, check http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/

Certainly, cycling is a fun and different way of getting to a site but I really don't see how it would require any special adaptation of hammocking gear or techniques beyond what is already used in lightweight hiking. If anything touring cyclists tend to carry substantially more than hikers. I think at best a sub-forum would be a place to trip plan but other web sites probably are a better suited venue.

Hey Scooterdogma - I would be interested in a sub forum. I've done 3 unsupported rides across the USA. Here's some pics. The mountain bike (first pic)was hauling waayyy too much stuff (first trip). The other pic (second) is when I toned down alot of the "I gotta bring this".

I would be interested also. Currently, I am doing 12/24 hour races but the bikepacking thing is on my list to do.

I'd be happy to participate, but I doubt we'd get a sub-forum here. There just hasn't been enough posts about the subject. Don't let that stop you from starting new threads on the subject, though(in the appropriate forum, of course).

For me personally, my bikepacking list is almost identical to my backpacking list, the exception being the bike related tools and spares.

That's my take on things, anyway.

Also, if you haven't already, join the Bikepacking.net forums. Membership seems to be increasing over there and I've seen a few Hammock Forum members there.

Scooterdogma, one option that us in house hangers did to "get our own sub" was to tag everything with "home" or "indoors". That way when you search, you will find those tags. It really helped. Might I suggest you do a poll to see how many there are here and then come to a group agreement to tag with the same word to better archive info.

    Good Luck!

Where's the subforum for indoor hanging? I couldn't find it.
