where to place panel pull outs

I'm finishing my 12x10 winter tarp. I am putting panel pull outs. Need suggestions on where to put them. Thinking of putting them 22" from the ridgeline and 5' on center.

    Depends

I think placement of side panel pullouts is a personal choice. Also feel placement may depend on the type of hangin' you'll be doing. Will there be high winds, snow, heavy rain etc..etc..

A good temporary solution (or permanent) is the use of Grip Clips. With a little experimentation, you can use them to help find the perfect place for your side panel pulls.

I have a Hennessy Hex and I'm thinking 36" from the RL and center them about 2 or 3 ft apart. Maybe someone has a better idea... I'm also wanting to make mine so I can use the pull-outs with poles that way I don't have to worry about finding a spot to tie them out to.

I didn't get much response, so I settled on the 22" from RL and 5' on center. I guess as long as the sides gets pulled out I'll be ok. If it doesn't work out, I'll put another set in the right place.

When placing my pull outs, I just set up the tarp over my hammock in the style that I thought I would use the most, then got in the hammock and pushed out the sides with the handle of my hiking pole to see where I wanted it, and then took it down and sewed them on.
    Good luck,

My first set was about 22" down, and I decided that I liked 26" down form the RL better. Mine are placed equally in thirds along the length, as measured at the distance down from the RL. I'm very happy with this placement.
