Words of Wisdom for a First Hang ???

I don't know that we are ready for a first hang, but you never know till you try...right? Heading out tomorrow after my daughter gets out of school for an overnight hang. Weather report is for a low of 38 degrees and a 20% chance of showers. I have prowled thru several threads here and watched so many Shug videos I am hearing "Whooooo Buddy" in my sleep. We are hiking a 1/2 mile into a primitave campsite.

We each have our HH with tarp, CCF with DIY SPE's, DIY poncho under quilts, and sleeping bags.

I would greatly appreciate any words of wisdom that each of you could bless us with.

    Don't fall!

Have some water bottles ready to be filled with hot water if you get cold. Set it between your legs and get that femoral artery carrying some warmth. Amazing how much warmer you will feel.

Mostly, don't forget to enjoy a good night's sleep in the woods. If you still hear the occasional WhoooooBuddy, it's just a wild Shug and will probably leave you alone.
    Trust nobody!

You are going to learn so much from this. You'll do fine. It is a great thing for you and your daughter to do together.

Campfire, hot cocoa, read the hot water bottle thread. And take a few pictures.

I bet you will be fine! You may find with the new HH hammocks you get a little more stretch the first few hangs so I would hang them a little bit higher than normal to compensate.

Sounds like a good day to skip school

Take note on what goes right ....and what goes wrong. Bring cocoa for the two of you. Eat well before sleep.

In case you have not figured, we like pictures and trip reports.

#1 Have fun, if it is not fun then why bother. Good food and warm drinks really help.

Have a great time in the woods.

I hear Spam attracts them also.

As has been said, hot water bottle and high calorie food before bed. Have fun.
