    +1 on warmth against the femoral artery. Sometimes the first night on each trip is a bit questionable, and then you zero in everything. The second night is usually sheer bliss. It would helpful for you daughter to learn to use a F.U.D specially if she has layered clothing on that way she isn't having to mess with all of her clothing and expose herself in the cold weather. They are easy enough to make. You definitely want to empty your bladder during the night as you will get colder if you don't.

    Just be glad your getting out, enjoy learning, and being with each other.

    extra cord is always a good thing, i find i always use it, on that note if your useing slepping bags i suggest two layers of wool socks and make the outter layer "ice socks" they are amazing
