Several times it comes up that people want to know how they can see all hangouts in their area or they want some fix to the forums to make sure they don't miss any hangs in their area. Since sub-forums aren't possible due to the global nature of hammockforums.net here is several ways I have discovered to help stay on top of this wonderful forum and never miss another hangout!

The Email Method

Go to the hangout, campouts and trip planning forum (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/f...splay.php?f=44) and to the right of the dark orange coloured bar there is a grey tab for "Thread Tools" select it and select "subscribe to to this forum" then select Daily or Weekly updates (I chose weekly)

Then once a week (or day) you will get an email containing 2 lists, New threads in the forum (important) and updated threads in the forum (useless)

Just scroll through the New threads list and see if there are any new threads about a group meeting in Michigan.

Here is an example of my most recent weekly update (new threads only) you'll see that is only 21 new threads. Hardly information overload, and it allows me to always know when a new group hang near me is proposed (Of course assuming the user posts the location in the thread title which I believe should be mandatory but whatever)

Code:
The following threads are new:

The RSS Feed Method

You can subscribe to the RSS feed for the forum and recieve new updates about the forum in your favourite RSS feed reader (I use Google Reader) but if you don't use an RSS reader but you do use Mozilla's Firefox browser you can also subscribe to the feed as a live bookmark that will add a folder to your bookmarks with all the newest hangouts.

The RSS feed for the Hangouts, Campouts and Trip Planning is located here http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/e...S2&forumids=44

The Bookmark Method
Maybe you don't like to get emails from hammockforums.net or you are unable to and you don't use an RSS reader so it's not for you then you can also create a bookmark to a custom search for new posts in the Hangouts, Campouts and Trip Planning forum. (If you are using Firefox I recommend using the RSS feed method above with a Live Bookmark instead)

Simply add the link http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...do=getnew&f=44 to your bookmarks! (Note: You can not visit the page and bookmark it as it redirects you to a cached search page. You must manually add the link or add it through the right click menu on the link above.)

Conclusion
As you can see there are many methods that help you keep on top of the Hangouts, Campouts and Trip Planning forum without needing any modifications to the forum it self!

Good luck and Happy Hanging
