Monday has brought a surprise. The work I was planning for Friday has postponed and I now have Friday off. I plan to arrive Friday morning and will drive in, since I don't own a pack.

Right now the wind is blowing to beat the band, and tomorrow storms that have everybody worried will be chugging through. But b all accounts the weekend is going to be absolutely gorgemous.
Can we get a headcount of how many folks are planning on showing up on Saturday and hiking in?
If nobody is actually planning to, we can actually just do a loop or two starting from the campsite. Round tris can range from 6 to 10 miles depending on how the trails are strung together.
Doesn't look like I'll be able to get off friday, so I'll be coming Friday evening and hiking in. Looking forward to it.
Regarding Friday evening arrival and hiking in:
Park hours are Sun. 7am-5pm, M-Th 8am-5pm, Fri-Sat 7am-10pm. The hike in to the Equestrian Primitive site from the Hale Lake parking area is about 3 miles. Sunset will be +/- 1930 , which means dusk will begin about an hour before. Most of the route is in deep forest, and the last part of it skirts the cliff edge of the Brazos River. Allow enough time to traverse the route during daylight.
