    Video: Stretchable Footbox

This is just a quick video showing the stretchable footbox mod for gathered end net less hammocks. I used this footbox mod and Knotty's stretch side mod on the head end on my latest hammock. With this footbox mod you can enter/exit either side of hammock.

Medicineman shows this mod in a video in this thread He was the reason for the mod. On the RRG hang his feet came out of the hammock while sleeping and we discussed ways to avoid this without sewing in a solid footbox.

What a great idea! Nicely implemented, too. Great color combination with that camo/black DL. And you have wonderful assistants/assistance in the vid too!

    Kudos to you and Medicineman!

    Hangnout,

Thanks for the nice vid! So did you mod the side hem of the hammock, or is it basically stock with the material for the footbox "added on"? Thanks for helping me visualize.

This mod can be done to any existing hammock. It is just added on. Even though it looks like a triangle when attached it really is a half moon shape with the straight edge sewn to the edge of hammock. The hardest part is sewing the curve for the shock cord channel.

Any advice on sewing the curve??? Just tried this and that was the hardest sewing I have ever done! Even with pinning it wanted to fold over on itself so you could not pull the cord thru.

Thanks for any advice and help!

Plan on having a slight material fold over every few inches. If you don't by the time you get to the apex you have too much material to deal with.
