    Blackbird Setup

With luck my new (to me) BB 1.1 dbl will be arriving today. Anything I should be aware of as I set it up? I will be switching out the straps with whoopies and using my old toggles and straps. I will only have about 90 minutes to do that this afternoon and I will be setting up (at a familiar location) in the dark later in the evening.

I have slept 2 nights in a WBBB 1.0 dbl, but the owner who loaned it to me had already set it up with whoopies, so it was not a big deal.

Any advice on the Blackbird would be good information for me....

This may be a good resource on swapping out suspensions.

Other than that, it's about as easy a hammock to setup as any.

Just because it's dark doesn't mean you can't tweak things for a bit

From my own learning experience, the WBBB is generally pretty forgiving for most mistakes (learning curve stuff). Generally...
    1. Don't hang it too tight. Keep the suspension angle at about 30 degrees.
    2. The ridgeline should be somewhat loose when the hammock is empty...and not overly tight when you are in the hammock.
    3. Hang the foot end about 6" higher than the head end.

Beyond that, it is use and adjust to suit your own style and comfort.

Hey BS, I xeroxed the hanging instructions I got from Warbonnet and put a copy in your shipping box. That should help too. I always hang feet higher too. Sure hope it gets to you today!

Edit: the tracking # says it's out for delivery as of 8:21 am today.

Tendertoe, I will have to look at that tonight, as I don't have You Tube access at work (actually, I do have a security override, but it is my personal policy not to view anything other than work related videos during the day. )

You are too good! Thanks a million! It is probably arriving now, but I am stuck here waiting to get off in another 5 hours!

In my old hammock, I have tried to hang my head end higher with poor results; however, I can see that with the footbox, it would more effective with the BlackBird.

The recommendation is to hang the FOOT end higher than the head by about 6".

I use the stock adjustable webbing with Dutch Clips. Makes for a very fast and easy set up.

+1 on the stock webbing and Dutch clips.

I changed over to Whoopies, tree straps, Dutch clips and toggles when I first got my WBBB......only to go back to the stock webbing and Dutch clips.

All the "extras" are great but I came to appreciate the simplicity of the basic setup.

May want to give the stock setup a try before you change everything out.

And hold on to the stock stuff if you do swap everything out as your preference may change over time.
