I would post pics but I don't know how to upload them to this site using my phone.

I'd like to see pics of everyone's!!
How the heck did you score a $5 comforter at Walmart??
Why don't we have Walmart?
DivaB, the comforter was on the clearance shelf with no price. Opened package, slight stain. Passed it by the bar code price reader......$5.00. Proceeded immediately to the check out!
The outer cover is some kind of cotton/poly blend. The insulation looks like common poly batting. Folded double, it gives a bit over 2" of loft. I've been down to a bit below freezing and was not just OK, but WARM. It might not last long term, but definitely good for a test and several camping trips. Cheap fun.

I thought you guys had Walmart:

Another resource for $5 comforters is the Salvation Army Thrift Store. The ones in the Northern Virginia area have quilts/comforters always priced at $5.
Sometimes, they even have down! The fill ranges from 550 to 800. I've been able to pick up three so far, they are not great for the bed, because the baffles are shot, but for DIY UQ & TQ's very cool.
There are very few problems we can solve ourselves, but there is almost nothing we cannot solve together.
Most often when someone says they can't, they are unwilling to try.
Got pics.
View from head end.
Foot end with me inside.
Foot box area with me inside.
Full view. I cut off about a foot of the length, folded it along the longest dimension, sewed head and foot end and strung a cord through. Simple.
May attach it with some shock cord but it works well like it is.

Do you think you may encase this with some ripstop to keep a bit more moisture out of it?
