Feather Falls, Plumas National Forest, CA

Just finished making a winter tarp and did an over night trip to Feather Falls to test it out. There are 2 trails to get to the falls, 3.3 miles or 4.5 miles. Did the 4.5 mile, rolling hills route cause the 3.3 miles route is close. A tree broke one of the bridges. Anyway, the 4.5 is an easier hike. Very nice weather for hiking.

We hiked past the falls and found some spots to setup camp. The low for the night was about 30*. I found the temp inside my tarp (doors closed with binder clips) was between 10* - 14* different than the outside sensor. I put a walmart space blanket in my UQ. Is the difference due to the space blanket reflecting heat up or just the winter tarp trapping heat?

    Great easy hike. Very relaxing.

Nice report and great pics. Good job on the tarp, got any different shots of that thing? Looks like a beauty. The tarp does create it's own micro climate and typically temperatures differ inside versus outside. It could be due to the space blanket but probably due to that great tarp stopping wind from blowing and stealing heat from you.

Nice report. Looks like spring is coming soon when you see the LBs coming out of the ground.
Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course.
