Hammock & Bluegrass....

Hello Hangers,
Just back from a bluegrass festival doing some picking, singing and hanging.
Here is my set-up...

Was on the edge of a pasture (there are more trees but that is private land) so I had to make a couple of 2x4 supports. Worked real good. Had several people checking me out as I took a wonderful 2 hour nap to the sounds of Bill Monroe coming through the tarp.
Had fun and what little sleep there is, is so good in a hammock!

Hammocking and bluegrass! What more could you want? Sounds like heaven. Thanks for the vision.

Yessir, bolts with a wing-nut.
All that wuz missin' was some good ol' NC style pork BBQ.....

Way cool, Shug. I myself have been riding the bike down to the river banks with my hammock and mandolin...not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. Hammocks and bluegrass are like two peas and a pod, though I haven't yet mastered hanging while picking yet...have you?

Not to stray too far off topic, but, I'm almost finished reading Come Hither To Go Yonder: Playing Bluegrass With Bill Monroe by Bob Black. Black was a Blue Grass Boy in the early 70s, played banjo. It's a great memoir of Bill and insight into the family of musicians surrounding him in that era. Any of you bluegrassers looking for a great hammock read should check it out!

Hey macfly......... I have not yet picked whilst in the hammock. But I am gonna go for it!
Sounds nice to hammock and pick by the river.

I have sat in a jam with Bob Black as he comes to our MN bluegrass fests from time to time. Have not yet read the book. Got to order that one up......

OK.... I just ordered it and I will read it whilst relaxing in the good ol' hammock
