Maximum load for whoopie sling setup

I use the 7/64 amsteel whoopieslings from whoopieslings.com and the polyester tree straps from arrowhead and I have absolutely no problems, no stretching or fraying and Im 6'2" and 315lbs, you should be fine as long as u don't introduce a large shock load ie: flopping in your hammock like a couch.

Chinese finger cuff, ever play with those as a kid? Same thing going on, just need a little longer bury at your weight.

As far as the eye splice bury use the locked brummel splice. I use them on the attachment end of my hammock and have had no issues.

I've hung from AHE's whoopies at #350. When I ordered up Amsteel from Redden I ordered 1/8, just to make myself fell a little better, but I don't think it was necessary.

A little piece of mind goes a long way.

Little feller here can't understand why 300lb guys are concerned about the burden of an extra half ounce of string? The whoopie is fine. But, it doesn't have dynamic tolerance, so making whoopie could very well lead to.......interuptus.

Just be sure to buy from someone who has done the splicing correctly -- with sufficient buries, and tapers on them, or take that care yourself. And, inspect your cordage once in awhile. When new and intact, you may have such a safety margin with 7/64" that in a pinch you could hang safely and sleep comfortably after extracting half the strands to tie up villains with bounties on them you find in the woods . The heavier the cordage, the more strands available to tie up more of them and still sleep soundly.

That said, anybody over 100lb better be careful not to have keys, a nail-clip, etc, in their pockets when they climb in or move in their hammocks. Who says the rip stops?

This really is a loaded question ( Pun Intended).

Weight is not the real issue...Force is the true limiter... The improperly hung hammock suspension with a medium weight person will snap long before a heavier weight in a properly hung suspension... See all the force discussions in the Ultimate Hang and in other posts. ( all u great searchers can add those links here...thx).

Dutch has tested JRB Whoopies and JRB Utility Loops to over 1000 pounds and amsteel itself is advetised at 1300.
