    North Georgia Spring 2012 Hang

I started a thread a few weeks ago trying to organize a north Georgia hang (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=45200). I figured a poll was the better way to do this, and since the date is the most important decision (I don't want anyone to be left out due to schedule conflict), I started this poll to vote on the date. Everyone is welcome, and you can pick more than one date if several are good for you. Please also post a vote for location in this thread. Here are the nominations I remember (see above thread), but feel free to throw out others.

    1. Panther Creek; easy access, hiking, waterfalls, and probably some fishing.
    2. Anywhere along the AT (but preferably near Neels Gap); not sure if this is good for a large group, but may work well if the group isn't too big.
    3. The Chattoga River; always a great location with plenty of great hiking, fishing, some nearby waterfalls, and plenty of great hanging sites.
    4. Murrays Lake; easy access and possibly some good fishing. Is there any hiking there as well?

Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

I vote for either Panther Creek or the Chattoga River, but I'd probably be fine with either of the others too. Any date works for me unless work crops up, but I won't know that until the a few days prior.

I'm down for anything as long as there's a hike! Never been to the Chattoga though!

Panther Creek and Chattoga sound good. I love to hike and I love water falls.

I prefer places with fishing opportunity but anywhere is fine. The chattooga has a pretty bad *** spot for a good number of people to camp about 4 miles north of hwy 76, and if you start from 24 and go south theres plenty of good spots too.

I think ive been to panther creek before but don't really remember.

Never heard of murrays lake but sounds like it might have fish in it.

I voted for March 2-4 and then realized I should have put 9-11.

My preference would be Chatooga, and then Panther Creek. Thanks str1der for putting this together.

We would like to go but none of those dates will work for us

Good fishing on the Chattooga and several great spots. I've always parked at Burrells Ford and hiked north from there. There's a great beach spot about a mile from the ford and another large site maybe another half mile past that at the East Fork. Plenty of hiking too.

Those are my top two choices as well, the Chattooga becaue it's awesome and Panther Creek because it's new and looks awesome. No thanks necesarry. I just want to finally make one of these mythical group hangs!
