What I have in mind is an easy peapod convert. So I need to be able to have the bag zipped up and unzip only the bottom. Is the two way zipper in the bottom or the chest compartment?

Oh I see what you mean, I thought you meant on the backpack. Yes it does have a two way zipper allowing you to unzip a small hole in the very bottom while still having the bag zipped up. Here is a photo
