I like two separate lines off of the ridgeline with Dutchflyz or a knot. Porch mode is my favorite pitch....less stooping.

Tendertoe, I like the idea of attaching the tarp lines to the tree high up above the hammock suspension. I've never seen that approach before, or just wasn't paying attention. I have to try that on my next hang. Otherwise, my approach is the same as yours with the substitution of Dutch hooks for the mini-biners and my ridgeline over the tarp.

It's worked well for me for quite a while. I have tried many different ways and this one has always won hands down for ease of setup, and versatility.
I have always found it interesting that it isn't more popular than it is considering it was the first method I stumbled upon when I first started hammocking and is demonstrated by a major name in the community.
basically the same as shug
2 separate lines coming off each end of the tarp ridgeline, i use 1.75 zing it.....make a locked brummel on one end of the line and larks head it to the tarp.....no knots and easily removed if need be
put a back splice in the other end of the line and slide a tarp fly from dutch on, the tarp fly will never fall off because of the back splice
don't know how you could get simpler setup
