Great Lakes / Ontario crew -summer trip?

Just putting out a feeler about a summer trip. I haven't been able to make any group hangs last year (except a quick visit to Valens) because of date conflicts so I figured planning now would be the way to go.

    Any thoughts? Canoes?

Right now I'm good for either mid July or early August - weekdays or weekends.

Hmm. I might be up for something in that range. I've burned a lot of vacation this year, but an extended weekend might be ok. I'd be more inclined to August but I'm flexible.

    Hi Ontario,
I'm planning a canoe/fishing trip in the Quetico through Canoe Canada the week of August 13th. Maybe we could cross paths...

I'm with Dan. Well after bug season would be good. Early to mid August. The Ontario Civic Holiday is Monday August 6th. Perhaps that weekend for a 2 or 3 night trip somewhere. I would prefer to backpack as it is the lowest common denominator.

    Cheers

    Hi Taozenqi

Quetico Provincial park is about a 1,000 mile drive (21 hours) from where most of the Eastern Grate Lakes/ Southern Ontario hangers live. So crossing paths would be unlikely. Have fun on your trip.

    Cheers

Hey Keg, myself and the BOSS would likely be interested in doing a weekend paddle trip in the second half of the summer.
    Where were you thinking?
Weekends work best for us, but we can very easily be free Friday through Sunday/Monday...we work nights!

    How about backpacking?

I personally would be interested in a backpacking trip. I think it would be a little easier to plan since pairing up is not essential.

    Hey Brian,
It's a 28.5 hour drive from NM, but driven by the beauty and wilderness of the Quetico, I still make it there each year. In the spirit of being social, I just thought I would throw it out as a possible meet-up. Remember the Voyagers? Have fun and you are always welcome to visit NM when you get a chance. TZQ

I might be interested. Any idea where it would take place?

For backpacking, obvious choices would include any of the 3 trail systems in Algonquin Provincial Park. There is a large trail system in Frontenac Provincial Park. Of course there is the one backpacking / backcountry trail system at Bon Echo that got the group hanging in Ontario started. All of these places also offer canoeing too.

    Cheers
