Another Amsteel option, cheapest so far for me.

    Hello Gang!

I hope this finds each of you very well. My apologies for being incommunicado. Many on here whom I have grown close to have known about my back situation and the incredible pain I have had for over 3 years. I underwent an experimental surgery not yet FDA approved in clinical trials. I had a vertebra REMOVED and got a titanium spinal disk (To go with my new Dutch Buckles!) implanted L4 and L5. I awoke from surgery with NO SPINAL PAIN or sciatica!

Now on to the subject of this post:

We have all chased the best price on Amsteel. For the most part we all come back to our beloved Redden Marine. 7/64 is .21 cents a foot.

If you have a West Marine store nearby, they carry it for .27 cents a foot. Here is the kicker: Join West Marine's captain's club for free and get 10% off amsteel purchases. To avoid shipping costs, order online and have it shipped to your local store.

Here is the difference on 100' feet of 7/64:

    REDDEN
    .21 X 100' = $21
+ Shipping $6.30 (to me for regular shipping) higher for different locations.
    Total = $27.32

    West Marine
    .27 X 100' = $27
    10% off: -$2.70 ($24.30)
My local sales tax. +7% ($1.70)
    Total price: $26

I know it isn't a lot off, but in this economy every little bit helps. West Marine also carries a lot of other hammock paraphernalia. Just a heads up for anyone who lives near a West Marine.

    Best!

Thanks for the heads up. I have a West Marine 30 miles away. Guess you know where I will be this weekend.

Now all you need to do is recalculate using the Redden Marine "HammockForum" 5% discount code.

Doc, so glad that your well on the road to be back! With a "Dutch" bionic back no less.

I feel like it's worth mentioning that Redden has gone out of their way to provide discounts for us, have participated here on the forums, and are down right helpful & nice folks and that is worth a $1.32 to me. As a matter of fact it's worth a lot more than that to me, even in these times, even being recently tossed from my comfy job into the not so fun world of freelance.

No judgement, but that's my 2 cents.

I wasn't aware of the Redden discount and forum participation, I only knew that is where most of our tribe got their amsteel. Thanks for letting me know! No offense taken, by the way. Redden has the best Zing-it price ANYWHERE, still!

West Marine will price match. To speed it up, have the URL for the Redden page with Amsteel by the foot, not the spool. They'll surf to it, confirm, calculate and price match.
I wouldn't push for the 5% discount, though.

I buy from our cottage guys whenever possible. They are my friends, and I want them to be there tomorrow, thriving, and making great gear. Can't say that about West, Redden, et al.

That's where I got my Amsteel . You're right, though. They don't carry it in stock, but they will order it for you--got it within a week, and had my whoopies ready for the weekend.

Still, I might give Redden a try next time, and save myself a trip to west Fresno (plus, this way I get a package in the mail (I love me my packages in the mail )).
You're gonna need a bigger hammock
