I have been lurking around for a few weeks, taking in the excellent knowledge base on this forum to learn about hanging. I have been wanted to do some Backpacking/Hiking and this lead to checking out tents, which lead me to Hammock Forum's. I like the aspect of light weight and also being off the ground. I just picked up a Hennessy Hammock Backpacker Ultralight Zip with the Hex fly and look forward to "hanging out" soon.
Wonderful! And welcome! You know what I'm going to say next, right? Under insulation?

Welcome from Kissimmee, neighbor! And welcome to the largest Hammockforum community in the USA! We have a few hangs coming up: one in the Ocala National Forest at Hidden Pond on the weekend of Feb 18th, one in the Lake Arbuckle area for Feb 24-26, and one in the Richloam area on March 17-18. Welcome from Arbuckle (Frostproof area)! Come on down to one of the hangs and you'll learn more in ten minutes of talking to the experienced folks than you can in a week or two of looking at the forum (and you can learn A LOT in a week of looking at the forum). The biggest problem with the hangs is that you will see, and often get to try, lots of different equipment and set ups. You will then find out what you really want to get and what works for you... so you'll need more gear!
