Question about using webbing as suspension. I sewed a loop at one end of my webbing to make a larskhead. Well my webbing larskhead looks about ready to slip right off where the amsteel is solid looking. Does that sound about right? Triglides worked great justt scared to fall in the middle of the night.
Are you saying the sewing look iffy? 5 good bar tacks should hold fine. I had a friend sew 5 bar tacks to create loops in some webbing back when I was pushing 300lbs and have hung with the loops just hanging from a hook in my basement.

No the sewing looks fine. Just look like the hammock will slip through the webbing.
Do you have the webbing larksheaded around the hammock?

I have a green gathered end hammock. I passed one end through the loop and that is what is around the gathered end like a larkshead. I did a few bounces and it held OK. I just REALLY don't want to fall in the middle of the night! Curious if anyone else thinks it looks a little sketchy.
Because the webbing is flat and not that pliable I think there is a chance it can slip off depending on how the end is whipped. I could be wrong. A common thing to do is use cordage like amsteel on the hammock and attach that to the webbing via various methods. How are you adjusting the webbing length for different set ups?

I have the jrb triglide. Very easy to adjust. Maybe I could larks head my amsteel still and just tie that to my webbing loop. Additionally its a standard whipping seven times around through the loop and pull on both sides.
If you made an continuous loop of amsteel, larkshead that around the hammock and then use a small climbing rated carabiner to connect the amsteel to the webbing loop, that would save wear on the webbing. Amsteel to webbing contact in the same place may wear over time. The carabiner would also allow for detachment.
You could also larkshead the amsteel from the hammock around a couple of descender rings and use them as cinch buckles. This would allow for easy and fast adjustment and you can use the trigildes to secure the other end of the webbing around the tree.

ill just hang real low to the ground and see how it goes and keep extra amsteel just in case.
