Hello from central IL

After finding this site referenced several times when I visited other hang-up sites decided to register here. Haven't camped for a few years but am now retired and heading back to the trees occasionally.

My every day, backyard hang is a big ol' brazilian job (several pounds of raw cotton) but I have a couple of really light nylon backpacker types that I'm thinking will be way more comfortable for camping than the cold, hard ground.

Don't like cold air much either anymore so will be DIY'ing a tarp-tent kinda shelter/canopy. The basic design is pretty much done but will be seeking help as to closures, stovepipe holes, etc..

This site looks like a gold mine of info so here I am. I'll apologize now for the probable ignorance of my future questions.

Welcome aboard, a couple of folks around here have made themselves winter cabins to encompas their hammocks for winter time, SmokeHouse and more recently mbriaman come to mind.
