I tuck them into the hammock bag and hang them from the ridge line out of the bottom entry on my HH - that way they're off of the ground and dry but not in my hammock and in the way.

Gross Hawk-eye! I've had spiders in my crocs that I left below my hammock but they didn't look like that! To keep my boots from freezing, I'll put my boots inside a stuff sack I've turned inside out and them put the sack under my knees in the hammock. I usually put something under my knees anyway. First time I did it I thought it would be uncomfortable but it wasn't. Worked out well so I've kept doing it.

My sandals, which I wear in camp, hang inside the hammock from a small cord with a mini-biner attached to the ridge-line down at the foot end, handy to put on whenever I have to get out of the hammock.
+1 except for the critter I am battling is the raccoon which will steal the salty treat in central TX.

Since the very first time I opened my Scout Handbook back in 198? I have driven two stick in the ground for my boots/shoes when camping.

On the now odd occasions I ground dwell I put them on sticks or my walking poles as all good scouts should, it keeps the wet out too!

But when i'm in my wonderous hammock they join me in there in a stuff sack turned inside out or they hang underneath if they are exceptionally muddy.

I've experienced this. Not fun. I hang my boots from the ridgeline under the tarp at the foot end.

I had an uncle that would do that. I always though it was awesome (when I was 10) and my mom would give him hell for showing me things like that.

2QZQ made me a bigger than normal peak bag for my footwear. My hammock is big enough that there is alot of space up there above my feet. I used to keep them in 2 crinkly shopping bags under my hammock in the hopes that if anything was interested in them I would hear it poking around. Kind of annoying on a gusty evening though.
Learning how to tie a couple knots never killed nobody. First ones I ever learned were pretty hard but they've kept my shoes on me for the better part of 45 years.

I know it is totally irrational but I worry about hanging stuff on my suspension or ridge line because it is too heavy. However, I have no problem dropping my 200 lbs into the hammock to sleep.

Need to get over this and pick up the idea to hang the boots from the line to keep em dry and empty.
