Very cool trip report...Gives me incentive to get my gear together for a first hang. Parts of this reminds me of the Superior Hiking trail. Great bridges and cool waterfalls..

    Thanks for sharing that....

LOVE this part of the trail. We did Laurel Valley to Badcreek in December 2010 and we are doing Badcreek to Oconee State Park next weekend (Feb 17-19). Beautiful scenery the entire way. And, it's a great fitness trail!

I really enjoyed the video. That is a section I have not yet been on. I'm glad to see the water sources are bigger than I was envisioning in my head. That shot of the hawk at the end was good timing. I liked it.

I too am hoping to knock this trail off of my to do list. Are you looking at a thru hike or just a section? I would love to try and complete the whole thing in 4-5 days. If you're looking for a traveling companion...

Thanks EVERYONE for all the nice comments! Really appreciate that and made the trip even more fun. I encurage anyone in the area to try the FHT. It's great for section hikers, day hikers, or thru hikers (80 miles total - takes about 5 days.)

Great warm-up for the AT or just a neat hike.

The hammock system worked great and really like the Wilderness Logics gear. Plus they are made in nearby North Carolina.

    Later!
