Ok well It's looking like this trip is cancelled, then. Anyone who decides later they want to go, I will still have the days off.
Really hate you're having to cancel your trip. I have my kids that weekend or I would go. Hopefully you'll have some interest between now and then.
Ok folks, since it's obvious this date is just not in the cards, I still have time to push the dates back one weekend. How would anyone feel about something around April 20th through the 23rd?
I'm getting on the trail at Springer Mt to Hogpen Gap starting around 9:45 today. Should be finishing by Friday afternoon.
We will be down on the trail in the Roan mtn area but it will be the last weekend in April.
If your trip falls through you are welcome to hike with us. We have 8 people already going.
High ground is dry ground!

Despite initial interest 2 months ago, I have recently gotten 100% zero interest in this trip so I'll be postponing my first AT trip to the fall, due to the rise in temperature this year being so severe that I will probably not be able to do much hiking after April. If you wanted to but timing was off check in September when I'll start a new thread!
Sorry I haven't checked the thread in a while Sunshine. I really wanted to take this hike but it will probably work for the best that I didn't. I'm recovering from an attack of the gout and my foot is still a little sore. Are you interested in a shorter hike like the one at the Chattooga river this weekend? The trip into the camp isn't very far and there are a few miles of trails to explore.
I am not sure but I think that's near the SC border, right? If it is, it's a bit further than my sad car can go right now, but I was thinking about trying to see if a few people would be interested in a basic car camping trip near a lake or river Friday and Saturday night instead. The weather is supposed to be so nice it'd be a real shame to miss it!!
It is but it doesn't really seem that far to me and I live in Smyrna. I can be there in about the same amount of time it takes me to get to Blairsville. There's plenty of lake camping near the metro area but I don't think there's a river close by that has sites on it (maybe a few houses)
