New Hammock Homie from NE GA

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums and fairly new to hammock camping. I have an ENO single nest, but it is a little small for me (6'4'' and 300lbs) so I am now a DIY kinda guy and am in the process of making my first hammock and backpack. I am a youth pastor, so for me cheaper = better.

I have a lovely wife of 10 years, an 3 kids who love the backcountry! We reside in Rabun County, GA (Clayton/Dillard area).

The name is Kyle, but my "trail name" is Sasquatch, Satch for short...I guess my size and hairy figure reminded my hiking buddies of Big Foot.

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you all!

Yes, there seems to be plenty of DIY Jedi masters here to help new padawans like me harness the DIY force.

Welcome aboard, Satch, from Lawrenceville, GA. I love Rabun County. Pretty country up there and lots of great places to camp and hike. Spent some time at Camp Rainey Mountain with the scouts and just general camping and hiking up there. Hope to see you on the trails!

Yes, welcome! There are at least two upcoming group hangs near you if you're interested. It's a great way to meet some people and check out a bunch of different set ups in person so you can better decide what works for you. Happy hanging!

Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.

Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."
