How do you stop water from running down your suspension?

I have whoopie slings and am wondering how you guys prevent water from running down them into your hammock?... I was thinking that I could just tie the loose ends of the slings to the suspension part and that would re-direct the water?. What do you think?

    That works fine.

Or you can tie a piece of shoelace to the suspension just above the hammock end.

I tie the loose ends as well. Better than carrying extra stuff.

AS's shoe string suggestion is spot on ... cotton works best, not a waxed or hard synthetic shoe string. Flat and soft works best. If you have any of those SHAMWOW clothes or something similar ... a strip of that makes a mighty fine drip strip. Having a water break like a ring or Dutch Biner works but in a major down pour I've had water go right around and down the line from those. I always use a cheap cotton shoestring or a piece of SHAMWOW

I think I have a couple pairs of shoelaces laying around that sounds like a good idea. I figure I will tie them on and just leave them on?

I think I will tie them and do the shoelace. Because I have heard this crappy night stuff from several people and dont want to have to experience it to learn from it, like many other things in hammock camping!

I pretty much always tie the tails of the whoopies up to keep them out of the dirt if nothing else.

i do the cotton string thing....I've been out in a way too many downpours and never had an issue with water running down my whoopies past the string. I routinely check to make sure they are tight around the whoopie after setting up. One weekend I was out with a bunch of ground dwellers and almost all the tents leaked (some even collapsed under the downpour and softening ground) but I was high and dry
