Smile Need ideas on mounting hammock in backyard with no trees - ENO hammock single

I have an eagles nest outfitters hammock (singlenest) and do not have trees in the back yard. What is best to use to mount and how should it be mounted in terms of spacing, etc if I used 4x4x8? Not sure if this is the best way, but would like ideas please. Thanks

If you use the "search" feature at the top of this page, you'll find lots of ideas by searching for hammock stands.
There has been talk about using posts too, just be realistic about the posts being nice & sturdy, deep in the soil.

Soil type will make a difference too, but the 4x4 will be plenty strong in it' self, but I believe I would be more likely to go w/ a 10' post though, so I could bury 3 or 4' in the ground.

One sure way to add strength to two up right poles is to add a "top rail".
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Several designs for a hammock frame on this site, and imrisk's site.

My personal setup uses 3 4x4x8s, 4 2x4x5s, 4 ?1/4"x6 inch bolts, 4 2x4x2s, 2 8" gate hinges, and 4 3" hinges. The bottom 4x4 has angled cuts on the ends, and the upright 4x4s have angled cuts on one end. See my gallery for what it looks like. Rock solid, and plenty high enough to test sag angles, but not very portable.

Oh yeah, on the spacing, that will depend partly on the type hammock you use.
I'm using a hammock that is 11' long & like to have at least a 13 or 14' span.
A little longer span will help you swing longer... if that's what you like. I love for my hammock to swing.
