Add the options to Hennessy or go with Clark

I bought a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe hammock this winter to use on kayak trips this year. I will be doing a trip on the Northern Forest Canoe Trail in May and then the Boundary Waters in Sept. Temps in the past have dropped to upper 30's that time of year on previous trips.

I paid almost $200 for the Hennessy. If i add the JRB Nest and the larger tarp I am getting close to $600 for everything.

Or I can sell the Henessy and go with a 4 season Clark and be around $350.

How would the Clark 4 season North American handle 30 to 40 temps vs Hennessy Explorer and JRB Nest? I need to make a decision in the coming weeks as I also have several overnight March and April river trips here in KY when temps will be in the low 40's.

    Any advice?

If you carry insulation for the Clark pockets, maybe.
Very few people have been able to get the performance out of the Clark pockets that can be had from a good underquilt. Forum member RAW made some small pillow sized quilts that he put into the individual pockets on his Clark. He did fairly well with the concept, but I don't know if he is still using them, or if he has gone back to an underquilt.
    Trust nobody!

I tried a super shelter on a Hennessy I had a couple of years ago. To make it work, you needed the undercover, the pad, a solar blanket and the over cover.

It was a lot of work, I thought, to get it to that temp range. And the super shelter and over cover are around $200. Add that to the $200 I have in this Hennessy and I am $50 higher then the Clark.

From what I understand, the clark has drop down sides that do the same thing as an over cover, and they claim the stock hammock can go down to 30 degrees.

Just trying to come to a decision. I had a Chrysallis as well last year. what I liked about that was I just slid in a thermarest and dropped the sides and I was toasty to freezing temps. Just really heavy and took a lot of room in the kayak.
