    storing snakeskins

i made a pair of snakeskins yesterday.... first thing i ever did on a sewing machine, and im pretty proud. as nice as they are, right now their kind of a nuisance to store... pretty bulky. i was just wondering if anyone found a way to store these tubes in a way that saves some space?

Great job with your first project.

I like most people, just leave them on the tarp 24/7. Shove it in the stuff sack and forget all about it.

I will normally make a no-see-um fabric bags with a pull-string for every tarp, hammock or any other DIY project for that matter. It makes storage very convienent.

my tarp certainly feels to pack bulkier in the skins - a give n take for the 'ease-ability' they create, i reckon.
its forced me to rethink my packing style - but overall has not actually stolen any real estate from the external pockets on my GG Mariposa Plus.

thats been my experience at least - and its kinda the same deal as using stuff sacks for quilts vs. just shoving them into your pack loose to fill all the dead space.

hmm, not sure that address your question though.........

I wrap them tightly around my hand until I reach the middle. Then I remove them from my hand and wrap them in the other direction. When I reach the end of the tarp I tightly bind the package together with the last section of my ridge line. Then I put them in my packs side pocket.

I cram mine in a wee small stuff sack....but I do like having SS on the tarp. Mystifies and be-fuddled tenters......

I used a small stuff sack when using my smaller pack. My larger pack has a exterior pocket that the skins fit in perfectly even without the sack. I just fold the skins in half until they are a manageable size and then wrap the exposed ridge line around the it.

I attach my tarp snakeskins (mosquito netting) on the outside of my pack.

Back when I was still using a pack that had a main compartment for most stuff, I'd usually strap my poncho and my tarp to the outside of the pack.

That way, when the weather turned bad, the two items I'd need first were right at hand.
