    Goomburra, 2 short hikes...Qld, Australia

Time was limited this weekend to single day of adventure.....so..
...a very early start was needed.

One & half hours later.....a fresh new day approaches.

Morning pick me up, a shot of hot chocolate before I hit the trail.

    North Branch trail first.
Its a easy undulating walking track with 6 or 7 shallow river crossings. Which you have to rock hop or tipi-toe through.
Varied terrain...dew laden knee high grasses, dry Eucalypt forest, then the track slowly winds its way upstream into the rainforest.
Overgrown in places with tall ferns.

Stream crossing before hitting the rainforest.

A small cascade quietly marks the end of the trail....
& reminds me to have something to eat. A flatish rock doubles as a makeshift table to roll some sesame chicken sushi rolls.

Half way out, with the morning temperature rising......
It was time to kick back in the cool shade....with tumbling waters as backgound noise.
Sometimes its not the destination....its how you get there.

    Next Araucaria Falls track....
Pure rainforest walk, encountered a few snakes in the sunny patches.

Quick break at the head of the falls, feasting on some home dried watermelon, dragonfuit & strawberries, before heading down to the base.

Skinny dipped in the deep clear....and very cold pool.
The waterfall massaged my head & shoulders, before I headed out the way I came.

    Short but sweet adventures.

Very nice! I like the windmill at the crack of dawn photo! It looks like it would be a pretty good place to do some walks. Snakes in the sun patches and yeah, that water is COLD! lol

Thanks mbiraman....the batteries are recharged for another week of work.

Bruciehi5, its not a bad area too base yourself for a weekend away....
creek walks, waterfalls, lookouts & there's always the off track to Castle Mt.

Rikall, sprayed the outside of my boots & gaiters with Bushmans heavy duty repellent.....so didn't find a single tick or leach this time around....there's no way I'd put in my skin though ! 40% Deet

    Thanks lubbockhammockguy,
    glad you enjoyed the trip.

I too enjoyed the views very much! Thanks for posting. You Australians have a beautiful world to explore. I've teased Brucie about serpents, have you ever seen one when treking?

Great shots. I've just moved Sydney to Brissy so can't wait to explore SE QLD. Next weekends my first hike in a couple of months...and that's waaaaay too long between walks.
    Thanks for sharing
