I'll be hiking the AT from Clingmans Dome to Fontana Dam the end of April, but I'd be up for this if I wasn't.
Hopefully, no tornados will be predicted in ya'lls area that weekend, (no Muskrat, I didn't just call it in!!)

Oh yes you did! I know better...
However, that is the weekend of my PE exam (8 hours of pure HELL on Fri ) and I will be a whooooooooped puppy after that. Planning to recoop at the house that weekend.
Hope everyone has a great weekend up there, I'll be looking forward to the Fall Upstate Hang.

On the list as a maybe -- hoping to come up with an extra hammock for my oldest boy so it can be a father/son hang.
How far up the trail from Burrell's will we be hiking? This'll be my boy's first camping trip and pretty much his first backcountry hike, so want to make sure he's up to it.
ETA: These are kid-friendly events, yes?

If its where we were weekend before last, its a short and flat hike. Should be very enjoyable for a kid.

The beach site is about a mile (maybe a little less) hike from the bridge on burrells ford road. It is a pretty easy hike though. As far as family-friendliness, Chickenwing brought his 2 girls last time and it wasn't a problem. You should be able to get A cheap $20 hammock from REI, ****'s, or Academy that will work for your son.

Cool, thanks.
Yeah, I'm jonesin for a "real" hammock myself. WBBB DL 1.1 would be ideal (I think) but thinkin hard about a HH BULA from REI if they send their 20% coupons out soon. Looking forward to trying out anyone's rig that is available for demo at the hang. I might snap and buy before then but I can still see how greener the grass is.
I'm also about to get some ripstop from Hancock Fabrics and try to sew a quick DIY. If anyone has any better local sources for ripstop (since WM's selection is nonexistant now), please LMK.
