    Rope burn/wear?

Something that i thought to ask was in relation to rope suspension that is threaded through the hammock material ends. Does the hammock wear in this area? The constant movement i figure could have some affect, and would it wise to possibly thread through a type of aluminium clip?

It's possible, at least in theory. Some people run their Amsteel through something hollow, like gutted para cord or a length of tubular webbing to function as a chafe guard.

over time, any and everything is gonna wear. So far, I've not seen or noticed any wear in this area on my hammocks. I used to used mule tape for tree straps and found wear on the stitched loop ends. I've seen a bit of wear on the amsteel whoopies, the weave of the rope straightened out a bit but the overall strength of the rope was not affected. As far as your hammock ends go, you could always take it apart and visually check the ends. Like before an expected hanging trip.

Haven't seen any abnormal wear. One could always make 2 passes through the sewn channel with the rope, like on a ENO hammock, if that is a concern.
