    whoopie sling and tree straps

Does anyone else sew the adjustable end of the whoopie into a loop at the end of the tree strap. I did this with my GTUL and so far, I don't see any drawback. When trees are really close together, you can wrap the strap around the tree more than once. Forgive my ugly sewing. I'm still new in the ways of sewing machines. With a ultralight carabiner on the other end of the strap, makes for a very quick set-up, low bulk suspension.

By doing this, you don't allow yourself for any adjustability in the webbing itself. I prefer a clip at this point so I can adjust the webbing and the whoopie.

i like the idea - but don't use it.

multiple wraps of the strap around the tree isn't fun for me-
and i also don't like how it sorta dictates the setup.

i think a lot do use that method, though as it simplifies in other ways.
some put the dead-eye loop in the webbing, making adjustments at the
    hammock end.

    no marlin spike to loose!
Grizzly Adams in his response to the post on how quick can you setup your hammock has another all in one approach like yours but instead of the whoopie being attached the webbing its a marlin spike. his is need too.

How easy is it for you to remove your whoopies from the hammock body?

It removes the same as a really long whoopie sling. I haven't found any decrease in adjustability by doing it this way. Only one time were trees too close for just the whoopie sling adjustability which was immediately remedied by wrapping the smaller tree twice with the strap.

There is a decrease in adjustability. As you mentioned, you wrapped the smaller tree twice. What if you can't wrap twice? If your straps are 5 feet long and the circumference of the tree is 3 ft, then your "attachment" point is two feet from the tree. This increases the minimum distances the trees must be apart. You could use a marlin spike hitch to shorten the length of the strap, but this defeats your purpose.

The other downside to this setup is the need for hardware, either a carabiner or something like a Dutch Clip.

I see nothing wrong with your setup, but I would rather have more adjustability and no need for hardware.
