My updated incubator 2.0 showed today. Baffles and reworked suspension system are very worth it. I'll get pics up under this thread within the week. But trust me, touch bases with Adam and get it done.

Second time I have heard about the new suspension - really interested to see what this is like.

Looking forward to pics, I have been thinking about adding the draft collars myself and am also curious about the suspension changes, haven't heard much on exactly what this entails.
OK, here are the promised pictures, so you all know it happened:
I realize I keep calling it a "baffle", I realize now "draft collar" is MORE accurate:
The main suspension lines are no longer through and through. They are "captured" at each end, and tension is controlled with a cord lock thingy, the cord running off the D-ring and tension thingy is one piece that goes off frame and to my SBiner that attaches to the main suspension:
A last shot (with my newly installed tag). All six pieces of shockcord are now independent of each other. The end cinching cords work basically the same way they did before but now they are supplemented with the collars, on each side the channel tension is controlled individually with a mini cordlok at all four corners, and I already explained the main suspension:
The only thing I noticed (And it's not a complaint because I never did much "head-to-foot-whole-quilt-shifting" in the middle of the night anyway) is that you can't really slide the quilt up and down because there are no more continuous channels. However, this system allows for some serious fine tuning during setup. I'm very impressed and will be trying it out in the woods (another solo trip ) tomorrow night.
Awesome upgrade package. Seriously, drop the great folks at HammockGear a line and make arrangements.

Thanks for sharing! Please let us know how it performs in the field.
Thanks body942 - really curious now to the field advantages of this new system over the old.

More Pics!
The only issue I have with my Incubator is a slight lack of snugness
between my butt and knees. I use a piece of shockcord clipped into the
UQ loops and thrown over the hammock ridgeline to tighten(lift) the UQ. This works well for me. I believe I would experience this with any full length UQ, as there is less pressure from my body weight in that region to close the gap between the UQ and hammock body.
Interested to see you report on the effectiveness of the draft collars.
You gotta love that Hammock Gear!

Wow! Bigger draft collar than I expected to see. That should stop any drafts. Looking forward to future reports. Esp. since I've just sewed my tubes and am getting ready to stuff and add to my underquilt.

looks awesome!
the side channel shockcord / cordlock seems to be designed like the knotty hammock or 2qzq uqp--- allowing you to tension the channel, thereby lifting the quilt up closer to the hammock.
this confirms my curiosity. of course, as stated, you do lose the ability to slide the quilt along the rails. not a big deal with the incubator, and one might be inclined to request the 'original' rail suspension on a 3/4 phoenix.
i'm told the benefits with actual fit and snugness to the bottom of the hammock should outweigh the ability to slide the quilt... time will tell. i do like the cord lock--- -i think.
and holy draft collar!
i had an incubator send for the mod, and should be on its way to another member here for actual use.
thanks for the pics!
