    Lightest UQ option for summer

What's the lightest under quilt option for summer hanging? I'm assuming it's a down 3/4 something. I'm afraid that a pad in my Wilderness Logics Lite Owl will not be comfy. Thoughts?

Are you wanting produced or just general dimensions/materials?

Depending on the temps and your location, you may not need an UQ during summer.

Produced. I go up to the Adirondacks in the summer and it gets chilly at night.

I just got a 42"x52" Jarbridge underquilt from Arrowhead that weighs less than 16oz and is rated to 30F, so that could work for summer by venting it. Any lower rated down underquilt would work too by venting, so a dedicated summer underquilt is not really necessary. I have a 20F down underquilt that weighs about 15oz that I can use when temps are in the 50s.

Also, a thin (1/4") pad that is wide (35 or 40") works very well and conforms in a hammock. I find my volara pad (1/4" thick, 40" wide, 60" long) works very well for summer insulation and seems comparable in comfort to underquilts. I've used two of these pads (1/2" total thickness) to temperatures in the 30s, so for cost, weight, and durability, thin pads are worth considering. (I'll add that I use a double-layer hammock and place the pads inside the two layers -- that may help with comfort too.)

I don't think in terms of "summer" or "winter" when I make gear choices. I simply focus on the likely conditions that I will encounter, and plan my gear out accordingly.

What are the temp ranges you'd expect on your trip? How much moisture? What other gear are you going to be using in conjunction with this?

Lightest stock UQ in my opinion is a WB Yeti paired with a 1/8" gossamer gear thinlight pad (cut down) I've nested in temps down in the 30's with great comfort (12.5oz for a 20*F quilt)

However you can work with Hammock gear and get a custom UQ made of cuben and lighter fabric and probably achieve the same weight of 12.5 oz or less and get it down to the 40*F temps.

Are closed cell foam pads comfortable in a hammock? I have the Lite Owl, which has the slot for pads. The option is attractive, as I always take half a closed cell pad to sit on anyway.
BTW, the new neoair xlite (12oz @70''x2.5'') is awesome for ground camping.
