I just posted this on the Pre-hike thread:
ZQ here....I just called PGFSP office. For those hiking in, you can start parking at the Organized Group Tenting area as early as Wednesday, but you must register at the Office. And, you must have your vehicle secured. The office wants to know why the cars are there so you won't get ticketed.
Also, Fires at the Group tenting area will be allowed as long as they are in the fire rings and are not left unattended. There is a burn ban in affect around here. As of now, Toms Run shelter is NOT allowing fires there. She is not sure when the ban will be lifted with all the rain we have had. For those hiking in...you may want to call Forestry at 717-352-2211 to check on using fire and stoves for cooking. You may also call the Appalichain Trail Conservancy at 717-258-5771 for information concerning the burn ban.

ZQ,Thanks for the heads up....now...do we travel Rt. 30 during York's rush hour...or hit the Swap Meet traffic in Carlisle? Do you think the traffic will be bad that first evening...the 25th? Might be better to take the slower path...Rt 30. ZQ
Not sure which way I'll go yet, but if I decide to take Rt. 30, I might jump up to Rt 234 on the other side of York, head out through East Berlin, then take Rt. 34 over the mountain into PGF.
Bummer
most of the time it is Fri. and Sat. that the traffic really locks up most of the vendors are already there or getting there today, passed a few coming home from work, if its a nice day take the road with the best views....: most of the traffic occurs on US 11 south as it enters Carlisle ,both turnpike and i-81 exit to 11 and that is they are most used exits.( 52a & 52b)= I-81(226 I-76) most of the traffic is on the east end of town it is possible to bypass the town all together...if you need directions pm me and i can give you a few different routs i have lived around this area most of my life...

Hey [O]tter,
now that your deadlines up, how many tags did you get? I haven't had a good look at the sheet as of yet.
Dan.
Added 6 new ones to the print List this morning so... the grand total is 50 custom tags! I will be laminating the last batch as I pack my gear tonight. After so many "PM chats" I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in person on Friday afternoon. Cya @ PGF
Correction....51, we got you covered Debbie
I wanted to wait until I knew for sure if I would make it or not to post.
Sadly, I have to miss my 2nd MAHHA in a row.
Too much RL going on right now. I will be out on the AT next weekend with a buddy who is through hiking this year.
I will make a point of making the fall one.
