    Thermarest Neo air pads

Has anyone tried using one of these air pads in their hammock setup? Im wondering what kind of R value/ temperature range one can get down to comfortably. I know there are variables involved. Just looking for some opinions.. thanx

I use one all the time. I don't know the specific R value I get but I've slept down to about 40 or so comfortably with it. I still use it even when I use my UQ because I like the cushioning I get with it.

The NeoAir has an R value is 2.4, but in the hammock I let about half the air out, so I don't know how much that affects it. I have trouble staying on it in the hammock, so I am looking to go with an UQ soon.

I had one. I really disliked the thing in general, though. There is a reflective liner in it that crinkles and I found it incredibly irritating. It also just felt flimsy. I tried it in the hammock one time, and promptly got a UQ.

When I go to ground now I use an Exped Synmat UL. I like it a lot more.

Yes, the crinkle. Only one reason to have a Neoair. Ultralight backpacking for the gram weanies (no disrespect intended). I carry mine to use as a bailout when there are no trees. However, since weight is not a major factor for me, I could do better with a DAM.

i just ordered a NeoAir All Season for my bridge. Supposed to be more durable, less crickly and an R value of 4.9 Of course it weighs a little more but I am hoping to use it instead of an UQ.

Used my Neoair for my first night hanging. Temps were in the 40's. Slept great. I have several pads and each serves a purpose. The Neoair is for when the trail is going to bring some pain and I need to be LIGHT! It's a compromise my knees will gladly take. I don't even notice the noise, but it's VERY narrow. Interested in the new Neoair version.

I have a UQ now, although I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

    Cheers
