Where does a hammock often fail?

Where do hammocks normally tear? Are some areas under more stress or danger?

Like a good boat, a decent hammock in the hands of a reasonably competent individual simply won't fail.

Best to build your own. (assuming you are reasonably competent)

They don't fail often. Rarely is more accurate.

My guess is that most of the failures that do occur are the result of damage that has compromised the structural integrity of the whole, creating a stress riser.

    I totally agree.

I have to say hammocks NEVER fail, people do. All failures I have ever heard was due to operater error. Be sweet to it and it will be sweet to you.

Probably where your keys or pocketknife pokes a hole.

Empty those pockets beforehand and you shouldn't have a problem.

The only part to fail me was the suspension which in the end was my own fault for setting it up wrong.
