As I am getting ready to start cutting fabric for my first UQ, I been thinking about 'shaped' baffles to enhance the longitudinal differential and the fit. Going back into the forums there is a quite a bit of information about this - wow, 2008 was a very busy year for underquilts.

Now that some time has passed, I am curious what experience has borne-out.
My understanding was that there are 2 main forms of baffle shaping: a curved (fixed width) baffle and a variable width/tapered end or shaped baffle. [I am still confused if this is what was referred to a "radial shaped" baffle - please enlighten me.] I see that these can also be combined together (see Snugfit and JRB models).

There was also some early sentiment that maybe this was not really worth the effort, although it really isn't much harder to cut out 8 shaped rather than rectangular pieces of NoSeeUm.

So, those that have gone this route, what have your experiences been - would you or will you incorporate this into your next quilt?

Thanks again for answering yet another question,
Jason
