    Storing down.

How important is it to store a down sleeping bag or UQ opened up and laying flat? I have a trip in three weeks and have been messing around with different stuff sacks and packing configurations and wasn't sure if it is vital for me to make sure I keep my down products unpacked when I'm not messing around.

To store them and to pack them is a totally different thing, to store just put them in a loose sac ( think pillow case ) and to pack them, just put them in your pack ( in a garbage or trash compactor bag as a bag liner) you can conpress them no worries, as long as you dont keep them that way for a long period (think weeks, months...) you'll be golden!!!

A lot of people belive that down should be stored uncompressed (in a large mesh or cotton bag - a pillow case - or stored hanging or flat) and I am one of them. A few days in your stuff sack won't hurt it but when its not in use, its good to keep it aired out. Plus I don't even use a stuff sack for my tq and uq. Simply stuff into my compactor trash bag at the bottom of my pack.
